Willingdon School of Ministry |

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Willingdon School of Ministry is a one-year, full time internship program to prepare participants for life-long ministry in the context of the local church. Similar to the residency program in a hospital setting, interns will work and serve in daily ministry alongside the pastoral staff of Willingdon Church, combining practical experiences with ongoing feedback, discussion and training. At the same time they will also have opportunities to solidify their biblical foundation and philosophy for ministry and grow personally and spiritually under the guidance of an Elder mentor.
PROGRAM GOALS
There are three specific goals this program seeks to accomplish in the life of the intern:
1. ACADEMICS – To solidify biblical convictions 2. MINISTRY – To develop ministry philosophy and skill 3. CHARACTER – To build discipline toward godliness
WHAT WILL THE INTERN BE DOING?
Interns will spend time learning and working in the context of the daily ministry of Willingdon Church. They will be given ministry assignments that will help them develop general pastoral skills including leading small groups and Discovery Classes, baptism preparation, funerals, pastoral care, church administration and teaching at various levels within the church. They will also develop specific pastoral skills as they rotate through the Children, Student, Adult and Pastoral Care ministries during which time they will be encouraged and nurtured by their participation with the Team Leader and other team members.
Interns will also be involved in a mentoring relationship with one of the Willingdon Church Elders and embark on a reading and study program that will strengthen their biblical convictions.

AFTER THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
At the end of the program there are a number of options:
- Become a pastor in a church
- Become involved in a specialized ministry within a church
- Become involved in church planting or missions within the denominational context of their choice
- Be encouraged to pursue further education
- Be recognized as a potential team member at Willingdon Church
- Be counseled to pursue a career option outside of church or pastoral ministry
FINANCES
Since the intern will be joining the staff team of Willingdon Church, an appropriate salary will be offered. Along with the salary come expectations and accountability regarding workload and ministry involvement.
