Bible Study Questions and Notes |
Small group Bible studies meet each week to discuss topics relating to the weekend service. These study notes act as a guide for the Bible study participants. Note that on weeks where there is a guest speaker or the Bible studies are not in session, there may not be a set of study notes posted.
Christmas Series 2007 : Peace On Earth (Part 1) (12/16/2007)
Scripture passage: Isaiah 9:1-7
Speaker: Pastor John Neufeld
Sermon Abstract:
As we near the end of 2007, the world looks hopeful and it looks hopeless at the same time. If we look at life here in Canada, life feels pretty good. The economy is healthy, our dollar is up, our national debt is down, and most of us who need to work are working. But if we look globally, or if we look in the long term, clouds sometimes obscure the horizon. Some worry about global warming. Some worry about the middle east and the threat of war. So many things seem uncertain. And yet, it is Christmas, and it is again time to pronounce peace on earth. How do we do this? In the next two Sundays, we will find out how.
A. The world of gloom that needed a savior
1. Why do the nations rage?
2. Is there really a long term hope?
3. Where is God?
B. The world of gloom that got a savior
1. We saw light in darkness
2. We saw joy where there was sadness
3. We have genuine hope for the future
