Every marriage begins with great expections. Some of these expectations will become reality, while others will turn out to be fantasy. This 6-week series will explore how our expectations for marriage impacts our level of satisfaction in marriage.

What will a typical evening look like?

Our hope is that your group will look like it usually does.  The only difference being that during the portion of your evening set aside for Bible study you will use this material.  Everything else, including the sharing and prayer, should be the same as always.   

I have singles currently attending my group…

Our strong desire is that your group grow together and that you build a strong sense of community.  If you have singles in your group I would recommend that you NOT do this course in your group as it is not particularly designed for singles.  There are many other curriculum (and of course the sermon-based studies) that would be better for your group.

Can I look at the material before we decide? 

Sure.  To give you a better idea of what this course is about, I can give you a copy of the first session of this course on a DVD for you to watch.  This DVD is a demo only and if you agree to lead a group we will provide you with the whole series.  

Will there be training for the leaders?

This course is very simple to work through – as you will see when you look at the DVD, it pretty much does everything for you.  However, we will invite those who will be doing the course to a short meeting one Sunday before the spring quarter of small groups begins and talk through some details and answer any questions that you might have. 

The curriculum is 6 weeks long but the spring quarter of small groups is 9 weeks long…

Good point.  We are hoping that, like usual, you will begin and end your time together with a potluck meal or some other type of social event.  That still leaves you with one extra week but the Celebration Dinners happen on May 16 & 17 and so we’d encourage you to cancel your small group that week and come out to one of the Celebration Dinners together as a group.  

Is this a course for marriages that are in crisis? 

No.  This course is for marriages that are doing well, marriages that are doing great and marriages that are struggling somewhat (of course we want to help those marriages that are struggling).  But it is not meant for nor designed for marriages that are in crisis.  Willingdon Church has different resources to help those couples and we will work with them.   

Can we invite other couples to join us before the sign-up? 

You bet!  If there are other couples that you would like to invite to join your group in advance of the spring sign up, please feel free to do so.  However, if you do, please let us know so that we don’t overbook your group. 

When do I need to let you know if we will do it?

We need to purchase a DVD series for each group that will be doing it so we need to know early enough so that we have time to get DVD resources to you for your group.
